I have a very limited quantity of seed available.
Although many sources say Space Lotus 36 is self fertile, I have experienced poor pollination. Either they are sometimes able to self pollinate, or my nearby Nelumbo lutea is pollinating them. If the later is the case, these seeds are interspecific hybrids.
Created in a Chinese breeding program, where seeds were sent into outer space to induce genetic mutations. We all come from the stars. I guess it was time to refresh the genetic code with some new cosmic intelligence.
Space Lotus 36 is a duel purpose cultivar with large tubers and high seed production, although, in my experience, it requires another cultivar to cross-pollinate to produce seed.
